Who Am I?
The best thing about this job is what you can do for people who want to make the best of their garden and have it as part of their home. I get a great feeling of satisfaction out of knowing I’m helping people enjoy their garden more. Nigel Saunders
I’m Nigel and I’m a professional gardener working in Clayton, Bradford in West Yorkshire and the area around. I’m a qualified Horticulturist and have been a Professional Gardener since 2015 (before that I just did my own garden!) working on gardens around Bradford.
For your peace of mind I have full public liability insurance and PA-1/PA-6 Licence for the correct use of Pesticides. Having said that I always aim to garden organically in order to reduce any risk to wild life or your domestic pets. I always conduct a risk assessment prior to the use of pesticides or taking on a new contract.
One of my favourite things about my time spent working on people’s gardens is talking to the people I meet about what they want to do with the space they have. Opening up a garden can give someone wonderful all year round interest. It is great to be a part of that.
Along with my love of doing the work I studied Horticulture at Shipley College for two years to help give me the knowledge to make the right choices for your garden. Having a wide knowledge of plants suitable for various aspects of your garden will help you to get the garden you want.
When I’m not working in gardens I tend to be outside walking my dog or I’m trying to keep fit (at my age I have to!). I live in Clayton with my wife and Purdey, that’s the dog.
As a full member of The Gardeners Guild you have the peace of mind and can get extra trust in my skills.
The Gardeners Guild is a national trade network for professionally qualified gardeners. The members are all self-employed gardeners who offer garden and grounds maintenance as part of their services.
Gardeners must prove that they have at least one horticultural qualification at Level 2 or above – which I am – before being accepted as a member. Qualified gardeners have been trained and assessed in their chosen field of horticulture.
